Usually, rechargeable NiMH battery’s charging voltage is in the range of 1.4–1.6 V/cell. For fast charging, it’s suggested that the NiMH cells should be charged with a smart battery charger in order to avoid overcharging that will cause damage in battery cells.
For discharging, NiMH battery suffers servere battery discharging by low-quality cells and improper use. However, for some new NiMH batteries, they feature in an ambient discharge range from -30° to 65°C. Hence, these advanced NiMH batteries function much better at low temperatures including two-way radio, locating devices and security applications.
Inevitably, some new electronic devices demand increasingly higher levels of energy from NiMH batteries. If advanced new NiMH batteries are used for those devices, they can provide up to 3 times the capacity of same-sized NiCd batteries.
